Chiefs smash Dalton 38-14 in important sub-regional game!
Our Chiefs were ready when the Dalton Catamounts came to Our House! From the opening kickoff this was an exciting and physical game. The Chief's defense held #3 Dalton to only 14 points and forced a number of turnovers including two interceptions. The Chief's offense ran a well executed running game either gaining the end-zone or putting the ball within field goal range for a total of 38 hard-earned points!   Chiefs come up short losing to Rome 26-21.
In a very physical game marked by great plays and unfortunately a number of turnovers, our Chiefs could not best the Rome Wolves. Sequoyah came out strong and lead the Wolves at the half 14-12. In the second half it was the speed of Rome's running backs and Sequoyah giving up the ball at crucial times that made the difference. Given Rome's record our Chiefs expected a tough contest and should be proud of what they did achieve! All Chiefs fans need to be in the stands this week as our Chiefs hold their heads high and take on Dalton High school. View the slide show from this game!

Chiefs defeat the Hillgrove Hawks 28-6!
Our Chiefs make it three in a row handily defeating the Hillgrove Hawks 28-6! Sequoyah dominated the field offensively moving the ball well both on the ground and in the air. The Chief's defense dominated as well denying the Hawks the end zone until the last moment of the game. What a pleasure to watch our Chiefs, guided by an outstanding coaching staff turn their training and abilities into scoreboard success! View the slide show from this game!

Chiefs beat Creekview 35-34 in double overtime! Wow, what a game! Played in honor of Coach Face, the Chiefs slugged it out with Creekview in an offensive dual not for the faint at heart! At the end of regular play the score was tied 28-28 - that means overtime baby! Overtime consists of each team getting a series of four downs starting with the ball on their own 15 yard line. Neither team scored in the first overtime series. Then Sequoyah scored on a pass play and the extra point made it Chiefs 35... but now it was Creekview's turn! Creekview scored six points on a pass play and lined up to kick the extra point to tie and send both teams into a third overtime period. Then lightning struck wearing a #24 Chief's jersey - Matt Thompson streaked into the backfield and blocked the extra point! Double overtime ends with Chiefs 35 Creekview 34! Chiefs WIN!!!!   Chiefs Win Season Opener against Cherokee 24-7! Our Sequoyah Chiefs beat the Cherokee Warriors in the 2008 season opener - Chiefs 24 - Warriors 7. If you missed it, you missed an exciting game. Our Chiefs moved the ball both on the ground and in the air while our defense kept the Warriors out of Chief territory the majority of the game. View the slide show from this game!

Loss to the Sequoyah Chiefs Family
With heavy heart and much sadness the Chiefs announced the passing of Coach Face in early June, 2008. Those of us who had the pleasure of working with him, were coached by him, or called him friend, know we lost a wonderful person and dedicated Coach. We will surely miss him. His memory and sayings will be with us for a very long time. He was one of the great Coaches at Sequoyah!
